Getting Started — User Guide
Welcome to InnerWorks. This guide walks you through your first experience with the platform — from accepting your invitation to completing your first daily practice.
Accepting your invitation
You’ll receive an email invitation from your organization’s InnerWorks administrator. The email contains a unique link that connects you to your organization’s tenant.
- Check your email for the InnerWorks invitation (check spam/junk if needed)
- Click the invitation link — this opens the sign-up flow
- Create your account using the Clerk authentication system (email + password or social sign-in)
Your invitation link is valid for a limited time (typically 7 days). If it expires, ask your administrator to resend it.
Completing onboarding
After creating your account, you’ll complete a brief 4-step onboarding process. This information personalizes your daily content — the more thoughtful your responses, the more relevant your practices will be.
Step 1: Values
Select the values that matter most to you. These might include things like:
- Family, integrity, faith, resilience, creativity, service, excellence
Your values anchor your Rootedness practice and shape the overall tone of your daily content.
Step 2: Situation
Describe your current professional context. This helps InnerWorks understand where you are right now:
- Your role, responsibilities, and current challenges
- What your typical day looks like
- Any transitions or changes you’re navigating
Step 3: Goals
Identify what you want to grow toward. This gives InnerWorks a direction for your development:
- Professional aspirations
- Personal development areas
- Skills or habits you want to build
Step 4: Preferences
Set your content and notification preferences:
- Cultural integration — Whether to include culturally specific references and examples
- Notification preferences — When and how you’d like to be reminded about your daily practice
Your first daily content
After completing onboarding, your first personalized daily content is generated. This includes:
- 4 practices — One for each R (Rootedness, Regulate, Reframe, Recover)
- 4 insights — Brief content across Balance, Money, Leadership, and Mind
Open the InnerWorks app to begin your first practice.
Navigating the app
The app has three main sections:
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Today | Your daily 4R practices and insights |
| Progress | Streaks, completion rates, and practice balance |
| Profile | Your values, goals, preferences, and notification settings |
The Today tab is where you’ll spend most of your time. It shows your current theme, progress through today’s practices, and any announcements from your organization.
What to expect
- Daily content is generated overnight, so it’s ready when you open the app
- Each session takes under 10 minutes
- Reflections are optional but valuable for personal growth
- Your data is private — your administrator sees aggregate engagement only, never your individual reflections or profile details
